View Post from Santiagosteamgarden: This might be one of the best stories of the year…💚✨
For months lower graders teamed up during recess, used the resources available (sticks and dirt!), and set their sights on an ambitious communal goal: Digging a hole for a new tree to be planted.
They worked hard, gradually digging a very large hole in the rock-hard dirt using just their hands and sticks. Then they campaigned to make their plan a reality – Finally, this week their goal was achieved! 🌳
Together with volunteer Chris N the students planted a beautiful Coast Live Oak donated by our friends at Shadetree Nursery.
What a thrill to see hard work and dedication turn into a big achievement! We’re so proud of these kids!
Gratitude to the playground supervisors who foster the encouraging environment where this type of natural childhood play has a place. The joy they shared during the digging journey was incredible! 💚 ✨
