This past Saturday, Shadetree welcomed lots of volunteers from Irvine Korean Parents Association & Volunteer Committee, UCI Pre-Dental Society, Concordia University, UCI Ant Eaters Habitat for Humanity, UCI Red Cross Club, NCL Vista Irvine Chapter, Calvary Chapel High, Irvine High’s SOL Club, and Stanbridge University. Tasks include upsizing 300 one-gallon plants to five-gallon containers, upsizing 80 4” native plants to five-gallon containers, installing and securing loose weed fabric, cutting back vegetation growing through the fence, raking leaf debris at tree rows, hand weeding, hand pruning 1,000 one-gallon Senecio chalk sticks, sweeping off rock debris on weed fabric, removing empty 1-gallon containers, continuing the reconstruction of Table 4 with a 2” x 6” wood frame and placing 9 new sheets of plywood on the table, replanted and pruning grasses, and general cleaning and organization around the nursery.
